HATI - Huvsgul Association for Tourist Information

The Huvsgul Association of Tourism and Information (HATI) is a local NGO, established in 2005 by G. Tseepil and relies on effort of both local and foreign volunteers. The organization is not-for-profit and works in the field of community development. In order to achieve its goals, any donation or support is warmly welcomed.

 

HATI runs a Tourist Information Centre (TIC) which collects and distributes information on accommodation, tourist guides, translators and sightseeing in the area. The TIC offers tours for people to get to know traditional ways of living. HATI also works on training local people involved in the tourism industry and on improving infrastructure. The organization also collaborates with local NGOs in the field of ecological education and traditional craft making. Through its activities, HATI contributes to the socio-economic development of the region and enables the creation of small businesses and income-sources.

 

The aim of HATI is to enhance a form of tourism which protects the local environment and ethnic groups that are still living in traditional ways. Tourist activities should be organized with respect to the local community and to the environment.

 

Activities of HATI might be summarized as follows:

- to connect people and create cooperation for a sustainable tourism development,

- to improve the tourism services in Huvsgul Aimag,

- to enable local people to enter the tourism sector,

- to provide joint tourism marketing of Huvsgul Aimag.
