Landscape of 300 lakes, flowers, forests scattered over a wide plain – center of Shamanism

Home of the Dhuka people, herding different animals, also reindeer. Shamanism is believed to developed from personification of nature and earth. Natural changes and our lives are results of their will. You can find many shamanism believers accross Mongolia. If you would like to meet a shaman, ask the locals.

The lakes are surrounded by steppes, along with deep taiga forests bordering Siberia (Sayan Mountains) and Tuva.

 

The region is rich in waters , rivers and lakes. Up to Tsagaanuur, the road is rough. Tourism increases rapidly to this National Park. Although fishing is possible (White Carp, Salmon and Taimen),  please respect the advised seasons for the fishing. The Landscape changes rapidly and is very scenic, the view will excuse for the harshness of the ride, mostly from Hatgal. Please respect that the law about the Russian border areas. It requires a registration and obtaining a border permit, which can be done in Murun"s Border Patrol office (situated next to the main Police station.

 

The Dukha speak a different language, which essentially is the Tuvan urianhai, hence a Turkic language.They live in dwellings called ortz, which resemble tepees or Lapp tents. The Dukha are the southernmost indigenous people herding reindeer.
